PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Students,

On behalf of the Gloucester City Middle School staff, welcome to the Lion's Den and our 2020- 2021 school year! We are excited about all of the positive things this year will hold for you!  Whether you are new to the building or GMS was your home last year, you are guaranteed to have a great and memorable experience. You will meet new teachers, make new friends, and also learn many new things. We can’t wait to get started on the first day of school.

We know this year will be different as we work to follow all safety guidelines established for keeping our Lions safe during COVID. Remember in everything we do- our student's safety is the most important goal. We will work through this year the only way we know how- together. We are family and we will continue to operate as families do by looking out for each other.

A few things to consider

Just a reminder that a high student attendance rate has a direct correlation to increased levels of learning and contributes to a positive school climate. Please reinforce with your children that school attendance should be a top priority with the reasonable exceptions of illness and family emergencies. I ask that you keep this in mind when scheduling family vacations and appointments for your child so that students can attend the maximum days possible and stay in school the entire day.

Being on time is important. When students are chronically late to class, they’ll experience a wide range of problems. First and foremost, students will miss information that’s shared at the beginning of class. Students are unable to complete assignments in a timely manner and struggle to keep up through the rest of the class. Please make sure our students arrive on time.

Communication is everything. Please visit http://mec.gcsd.k12.nj.us/ and use the drop-down parent menu to access Powerschool’s Parent Portal. Here you can see your child’s grades, attendance, and other important information.  If you are unsure how to log in or need help navigating, please never hesitate to call. In addition, we actively post on our Facebook page, please look here for the most up to date information about the school and follow us.

Our  PAWS theme will be” We’re All in this Together”
